Yeah, that Boston accent.....However......My sis & I were raised in Chicago. After she married, she moved to Missouri, and tho it was near the Illinois border......well, she developed a bit of a Missouri accent. The thing is, she had no idea, as she talked like all her friends and neighbors there, and once, when she was visiting, I mentioned it, she was indignant, lol.
So I said 2 or 3 words in my Chicago voice, and again the way she pronounced them.......she was astonished. The funny thing.....her hubby never lost his "Chicago" voice. Later on, she moved to Tennessee, then back to St. Louis...........and probably always figured I had developed a different accent.
Wherever you live, your speech is just like everyone around you........Had a daughter move to Texas.......Ah yes, I guess it really isn't an "accent" as much as just pronouncing some words, just a bit differently than they used to. But if I go out east in the U.S. , or down south, like in Texas or Mississippi........it' is ME who has the accent, the "northern or Chicago one. LOL
